The Trinity CertPT is a professional certificate designed for practicing teachers. The CertPT is ideal for teachers looking to update, improve, and enrich their professional teaching practice. It builds on the knowledge of TESOL-qualified teachers regarding teaching practice and theory, while developing the specialized skills needed to create and use effective teaching resources.

Participants in this course enhance their ability to assess, adapt, create, and reflect on the use of teaching resources tailored to specific contexts. Teaching contexts may include, for example, Business English, and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) environments. The Trinity CertPT is a Level 6 qualification, positioned between the Level 5 Initial Teacher Certificate and the Level 7 Advanced Diploma.

A unique evaluation model in its field

Courses can be delivered in-person, online, or in a blended format. Because the CertPT assesses pedagogical skills rather than language proficiency, teachers have the option of submitting written work in English, or bilingually in English and another language, broadening access to professional development for teachers worldwide.

Who is the Trinity CertPT aimed at?

  • Teachers who already hold an initial teaching qualification and wish to certify advanced knowledge and specialized skills in managing context-specific teaching resources.
  • Teachers with a Level 5 initial English teaching qualification seeking to advance their career with a Level 6 professional development qualification before pursuing a Level 7 Advanced Diploma in TESOL.
  • Experienced teachers who want a professional development course in English or bilingual format, with the option to submit assignments in English or bilingually.

The CertPT is also relevant for academic managers or directors of educational institutions interested in supporting the continuous professional development of their teaching staff, raising standards, and promoting good practices within their institution.

Entry requirements include an initial qualification in education with at least six months of teaching experience, or alternatively, a minimum of two years of teaching experience.
